2021 Daily Highlights

Come join 4-H at the Cuyahoga County Fair on Tuesday, August 10th – Sunday, August 15th. We have family friendly events and activities planned for all. This year the Jr. Fair theme is “Dare to Explore”. Each day 4-H will offer free hands-on activities in both the Jr. Fair building and the Cow Palace. These activities will run between 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. Also in the Jr. Fair building, stop by our garden display. This year Cuyahoga County 4-H and Master Gardeners have partnered to begin work on their “Everyone’s Garden” project, this multi-year project begins with small space and container gardening demonstrations. Each year another section will be added. The garden will be accessible to all and feature an outdoor learning lab. Come check out our display and learn how you can be involved.

Tuesday – Opening day parade steps off at noon with the Lorain County 4-H band providing entertainment and the Singing Angels contributing their beautiful voices. Stop by the Jr. Fair building today to learn how to fly drones and take part in other hands-on activities. In the Cow Palace you can learn about animals and agriculture careers. At 6:00 p.m. in the Jr. Fair building, Project Runway will be taking place, stop by to watch teams compete for 1st place.

Wednesday – Stop by the Jr. Fair building today if you “Dare” and explore space. Make and launch a rocket and see if you have “the right stuff” to become an astronaut. Families can also join us in the Cow Palace and view poultry judging at 10:00 a.m.

We will also have microscopes set up to get up close and personal with the food you eat. At 7:00 p.m. you can watch the 4-H Rabbit Costume contest. Throughout the day on Thursday, stop by the cow palace and learn about the 4-H animals housed in the barn. 4-H rabbit judging will begin at 10:00 a.m. in the cow palace

We will also learn how to card wool. At 6:00 p.m. join for our Jr. Fair Bake-Off. See what yummy cakes and deserts received the blue ribbon. Following judging all deserts will be auctioned off.

Saturday - In the Jr. Fair building we will “Dare to Explore Service to Others”. Stop by to make a flowerpot to give to someone to brighten their day. Throughout fair week, 4-H members perform various service projects. This year one of the projects is to collect books and provide them to the public. Stop by the Jr. Fair building to donate a new or gently used book or take one from the table to share. Meanwhile in the Cow Palace at 12:30 you can watch the 4-H Showmanship Sweepstakes, where the best of the best compete for top honors. At 7:00 p.m. join us for our 4-H Market Auction in the Cow Palace.

Sunday – The fourth “H” in 4-H is health. Today we will “Dare to Explore” your health. Stop by the Jr. Fair building and learn ways to improve your health and wellness. We will also be learning about composting and about worms. Find out why worms are so beneficial to our soil.
